another year

Hola amigos, it's been a long time since I rapped at ya -

blah blah blah. Things got pretty hectic at the end of the year, which made the holidays seem really tight. And I don't mean tight as in "off the chain". I mean tight as in "I didn't have time for anything else".

What has happened:

The PEAR discs have been printed and I should see them in the next couple days. Brenda has them now, and has confirmed that they look good. I am relieved, but I want to see them for myself first. Soon I'll cut a little trailer, but they're available now for sale through the ICRL web site for the low price of $50. Hot pancakes!

Jess and I confirmed the wedding date (July 2nd, 2006 - so mark your calendars) at The Arboretum (now known as the Shaw Nature Reserve), and it couldn't look better. We visited with both our folks and a flock of doves in tow. "Coo, coo, coo!" It looks like it'll be fun. We have the place for the weekend, and it'll be close to a Camp Maddox vibe, I think. There are beds for 66 at the site, and we'll see if people go for it (much of the bunking is in dorm-style rooms).

I installed a radiant heating subfloor for my dad's office. I like doing stuff like that, and it really improved his space. It was a tricky problem, but its finished! It was a kind of X-mas present for the old man. Now when I think of him in his office, I won't be picturing an unfinished basement, and that makes me feel good.

I worked on a super secret video project for a super secret client.

I also applied to the social documentation masters program at UCSC. It seemed like the thing to do, and I'm pretty happy with my application. That means that I may be back in school soon, and unavailable for hire, so reserve some of my time now!

After saying for the last four months or so that I didn't want to dive back into a large production again for a while, I seem to have found some energy reserves for my old friend, Growing Up Racial. Where have you been, old friend, and when will you be ready for your debutante ball?

So far this year has started with a bang. Let's keep that energy up, shall we?
